Preschool Reading:
Alphabet Match Game
Today's Snack: It's fun to pick up little cubes of
bread with a clothespin as a sort of chopstick. Don't pinch your fingers! You
can even serve a little melted cheese to dip the cubes in. Just be sure to wash
the clothespins with soap and water and let dry for the next time you use them.
Drink some apple juice, too.

Supplies:
26 clothespins |
scraps of paper or cardstock | tape
Magazine pictures of
items that go with each letter of the alphabet
First,
go through old magazines and catalogs. Cut out pictures of items whose starting
sounds are the 26 letters of the English alphabet. For example:
Apple
Banana
Carrot
Dog
. .
. and so forth. It takes time to find these, so consider laminating them and
trimming them, for use over and over and over.
Now
write the 26 alphabet letters on small scraps of paper or cardstock, and tape
each one to a different clothespin.
To
play, lay the clothespins and pictures out, and let the children find the picture
with the beginning sound of each alphabet letter, and clip the clothespin and
the picture together.
